So I've been thinking a bit about unibody trucks lately. Rumor has it that Honda plans to redesign the Ridgeline in a couple years, basing it on the new CR-V chassis. Dodge has given hints for a while now that the new Grand Cherokee chassis could spawn a compact unibody truck under the Ram badge. It's my belief (or perhaps wishful thinking) that in the coming years we'll see a shift of compact trucks from body-on-frame gas guzzlers to slightly more pedestrian, crossover-based suvs with open beds. In my opinion, I think it would be a smart move for Subaru to get back into the compact, unibody truck market, but this time base it on the Forester - make it a bit more high-riding, a bit larger, and a bit more aesthetically pleasing to appeal to a broader market of "lifestyle" truck buyers. Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?
